Alluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR)
» Features
They are typically used in order to increase the tensile strength of the conductors. Due to the increased diameter of ACSR they help in providing higher corona limit for the conductor.
With Aluminum low in density and steel high in the mechanical strength the ACSR provides better mechanical strength and low weight feature which makes them ideal to used in overhead power transmission.
» Product Brief
ACSR conductorsmainly prepared by merging Aluminum and Steel as a metals, they are typically constructed wherein there is a single layer or multi-layers of Aluminum and Steel concentrically layered with each other. The aluminum used in the construction is suffices to the standard 1350 H19 which has a high strength steel coated over it in order to provide higher tensile strength while used for critical applications. The steel core lying outside the entire ACSR conductor is coated with the zinc in order to give it an additional property of anti-corrosion.
» Applications:
The ACSR with high strength are used in river crossing conductors, transmission of power through over head ground wires on long span installations against any given resistance of conductor. They are typically used in the transmitting power through the overhead transmission lines either in the primary stage or secondary stage for power distribution.
» Technical Details
The steel used in ACSR selected from a wide range of 6% to 40% in proportion. The proportion of Aluminum and Steel varies as per the cross section of ACSR as shown in the table
